2025 Earth Month Challenge Impact Update: Regeneration in Action
This year marked the 5th edition of our Earth Month Challenge, and we’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve created together through the funds raised for ForestNation — a remarkable organization championing sustainable reforestation.
Thanks to our amazing participants, we’ve helped plant trees in one of the world’s most ecologically important — and most threatened — regions: the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania.
Environmental Impact
The trees planted on behalf of our employees are already making a difference. Here’s what that looks like in real numbers:
- 2,886 trees planted in the Usambara biodiversity hotspot.
- 89 hectares of heavily deforested land reforested.
- 72 tons of CO2 absorbed yearly.
- 289 tons of oxygen produced annually.
Community Impact
This initiative also creates meaningful employment opportunities and supports long-term community wellbeing:
- 115+ hours of meaningful work created — supporting local livelihoods, food security, and turning communities into guardians of Mother Earth.
- 80% of the nursery teams are women, leading the way in climate action and restoring harmony with nature.
A Regenerative Future
Reforestation is a critical natural solution to the climate crisis. Here’s why it’s key:
- Carbon Capture: Trees absorb CO₂ — the main driver of global warming. One tree can absorb up to 22 kg of CO₂ per year, making forests essential carbon sinks that help stabilize the planet’s climate.
- Biodiversity & Ecosystem Health: Reforestation restores habitats for wildlife, which supports ecosystem stability — essential for a thriving planet.
- Temperature Regulation: Forests cool the Earth by providing shade and releasing water vapor, helping to reduce extreme heat and maintain regional and global temperature balance.
- Rainfall & Water Cycles: Forests help regulate rainfall patterns and protect against drought and desertification — both worsened by climate change.
- Disaster Prevention: Healthy forests reduce the risk of floods, landslides, and soil erosion, building natural resilience against climate-related disasters.
Reforestation is one of the most effective solutions we have to restore ecosystems and address the climate crisis — but only when it uplifts the people who live closest to the land. Beyond planting trees — it’s about empowering communities, restoring ecosystems, and building a future where people and planet thrive together.
This is what Powering Change looks like. People + Planet, thriving together.
