Job Description

CubeMatch is seeking a Principal Payments Architect to act as the bank’s subject matter expert for Payments Architecture, providing strategic architectural leadership and hands-on technical guidance across critical payment platforms and transformation programmes. The role is responsible for designing secure, resilient, and regulatory-compliant payment solutions while supporting delivery teams across domestic and international payment initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Lead and own end-to-end payments architecture and solution design.
  • Act as design authority for payment-related initiatives and governance forums.
  • Define architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for payment platforms.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across design, integration, and implementation activities.
  • Review and produce technical artefacts including HLDs, LLDs, and integration designs.
  • Support SEPA, SWIFT, ISO20022, and payment modernisation programmes.
  • Troubleshoot complex payment processing and reconciliation issues.
  • Ensure payment solutions meet regulatory, security, resilience, and audit requirements.
  • Drive disaster recovery, failover, monitoring, and operational resilience strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, risk, operations, and programme stakeholders.
  • Mentor architects and senior engineers and contribute to technical leadership forums

Qualifications / Essential Skills & Attributes
 

  • Strong expertise in Payments Architecture within banking and financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of SEPA, SWIFT, ISO20022, payment processing, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with domestic and international payment platforms and clearing processes.
  • Strong hands-on technical architecture and integration experience.
  • Ability to design scalable, resilient, and secure payment solutions.
  • Experience producing architecture and technical design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of payment lifecycles, event processing, and ledger alignment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to payments.
  • Experience with resilience, disaster recovery, and operational monitoring strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor teams and provide technical leadership across complex programmes.
