Job Description
CubeMatch is seeking for a detail-oriented and analytical Data Steward to support the delivery of scalable, digital, and future-proof mortgage services. In an evolving regulatory and data-driven landscape, reliable and fully traceable data is a strategic foundation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring mortgage data is accurate, consistent, and effectively governed across the full value chain. The successful candidate will act on behalf of the Data Owner, ensuring operational data management standards are maintained while supporting business, reporting, and decision-making processes through high-quality data oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Act on behalf of the Data Owner to ensure mortgage data complies with defined standards, policies, and governance frameworks
- Manage and maintain data lineage, data definitions, and metadata across the mortgage domain
- Monitor, assess, and continuously improve data quality through the development and oversight of data quality rules
- Perform reconciliations and monitor inter-system data flows to ensure consistency and reliability across the chain
- Conduct root cause analyses on data discrepancies and partner with stakeholders to implement structural solutions
- Read, analyse, and query data (e.g. via SQL or similar tools) to identify deviations, inconsistencies, and underlying causes
- Support regulatory, audit, and control requirements by ensuring data compliance and preparing relevant checks and reports
- Act as a key point of contact for mortgage data stakeholders across business and IT
- Translate complex data flows into clear, understandable insights for diverse audiences
- Promote data-driven working practices and contribute to continuous improvement of data processes
Qualifications / Essential Skills & Attributes
- Higher professional (HBO) or university (WO) level of education or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within mortgages, financial processes, and data management environments
- Experience working as a Data Steward, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in a similar data-focused role
- Strong understanding of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
- Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (e.g. SQL or similar querying tools)
- Proven ability to perform reconciliations and analyse complex data flows across multiple systems
- Strong analytical mindset with a structured and meticulous approach to work
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bridge business and IT
- Proactive, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership in a dynamic environment
- Experience within large financial institutions or mortgage servicing environments is advantageous
