On November 7th, CubeMatch and the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland held a Panel Discussion on the topic of Open Banking. The event was chaired by CubeMatch Group CEO, Tom Melville who was joined by our panellists: Gillian Byrne, Russell Burke and Vincent Brennan.
Our panellists:
- Gillian Byrne is a senior leader with over 18 years of specialised experience in the payments sector in Ireland. As Head of Payments at BPFI, she is responsible for shaping and executing the payments strategy and driving innovation in payments.
- Vincent Brennan is a Senior Advisor in Banking and Payment, working with Accenture and also in an Independent capacity. He is a leading industry expert on the future of banking, and payments, with an extensive executive leadership track record in transformation, operations and risk management.
- Russell Burke is one of Ireland’s leading payment experts with over 45 years experience in banking and payments. His experiences spans both the banking and regulatory domain and is currently a non-executive director on a number of key emerging payment entities.
During our panel discussion, the panellists provided a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges in the current landscape of open banking. They highlighted the changes brought about by advances in technology and the regulatory landscape. Answering questions from our attendees, the panelists further explored the advancements in customer experience, emphasizing the need for seamless interactions and the role of technology in enhancing user satisfaction. The discussion also delved into the status of account-to-account payments, new digital banks and open banking benefits.
A key theme throughout the conversation was the importance of consumer trust and confidence, suggesting that a positive user experience is essential for fostering this trust in open banking solutions.
