For the 4th edition of the challenge, our participants from across our six locations joined hands to reduce their environmental impact. The challenge theme was “Planet vs Plastic”, a theme designed to raise awareness about plastic waste and its impact on the environment and human health.
At CubeMatch we always encourage our employees to take part in ESG initiatives and we love to see how involved they get, starting brand new habits or improving existing practices.
What our participants got up to this year:
- Signing the Global Plastic Treaty.
- Buying fresh vegetables and fruits with no plastic wrapping, buying in bulk (this allows to avoid the packaging associated with single-serving items, packaging which often ends up in landfills).
- Reducing their usage of all fossil fuel-based plastics.
- Reducing or banning all plastic-related tobacco products.
- Limiting their waste, especially their plastic waste.
- Boycotting fast fashion brands and advocating for sustainable fashion.
- Starting a habit of using reusable tote bags and shopping bags.
- Refusing to buy single-use plastic products.
- Aiming to buy more eco-friendly products for cleaning, shopping, cooking, hygiene routine etc. (e.g.: bamboo toothbrushes, tote bags, white vinegar, reusable sponge, dry shampoo and other products...).
- Practicing safe, sustainable, and eco-aware methods of waste disposal.
- Volunteering: Participating in local beach, canal or river clean-ups; picking up trash outside, supporting wildlife gardens etc.
- Gardening: Planting a tree or flowers, growing veggies and seasoning herbs, favoring native flora to create habitats for wildlife etc.
- Signing petitions in favor of the planet etc.
Well done to all our participants for their amazing efforts and commitment! Thanks to them we have broken a new record in participation and donations! This year the money raised will go to Greenpeace, an international organisation dedicated to preserving endangered species, preventing environmental abuses, and heightening environmental awareness through peaceful protests and creative confrontations with polluting corporations and governmental authorities.
This really shows that even “a little goes a long way” and that we can all do our part and contribute to the protection of our environment and our planet!
